U16s keep rolling with win over CD Toledo

Philadelphia Union Academy's U-16 continued its winning ways on Wednesday as they picked up a 1-0 victory over CD Toledo on Wednesday.

24 hours after picking up a win against Rayo Vallecano, the U16s put up another win by the scoreline as they defeated CD Toledo.

It was a case of deja vu for the Boys in Blue as a scoreless first half gave way to another spectacular moment from Gabriel Wesseh this time with the match winning goal. Ten minutes into the final half, Wesseh collected a pass near the sideline and quickly went to work with a touch to his left to break into the field. With a trio of defenders looking to step around the Union playmaker, Wesseh ripped a low shot with his left that took a lovely touch on the turf to skip past the keeper and inside the far post.

With the win, the U-16s are now 7-1-2 during their European tour. They look to make it three wins in three days on Thursday as they take on Getafe in another friendly. Kick off is set for 2PM ET and will be streamed for free by with access available by clicking here.

The Boys in Blue bounced back from their loss in the 2024 IberCup Cascais Final with a strong performance, taking a 1-0 win in Madrid on Tuesday evening.

The two sides couldn't break through in the opening half with both defenses keeping a shutout. The second half was a different story as Gabriel Wesseh played a perfectly placed pass to Emmanuel Clark in the 47th minute for the game-winning goal.
