On Sunday, June 10, the Philadelphia Union Foundation and the Union Juniors partnered with Chester City United to host the second annual “Pass Back Day” at YSC Sports in Wayne, PA.
Adult volunteers and youth players from the Union Juniors Academy team helped prepare and run the event, which brought over 70 kids from the Chester area for a day of soccer activities.
Participants rotated through various stations manned by Union Juniors, including a penalty shoot-out, an obstacle course, and a small-sided game. Philadelphia Union players and coaches were on hand to provide coaching instruction and encouragement. Among those in attendance were interim team manager John Hackworth, goalkeeper Chase Harrison, defenders Ray Gaddis and Sheanon Williams, and midfielder Krystian Witkowski.
Signed Union T-shirts, hats and jerseys were raffled off to participants at the end of the day. The event concluded with an autograph and picture session with Union players.
The Philadelphia Union Foundation thanks all of Sunday’s volunteers for making the second annual Passback Day a success!

The playground build is a part of the Philadelphia Union Foundation’s ongoing efforts to promote youth health and recreation in the Chester community and to provide children with safe places to play. MLS has engaged in similar projects in Seattle, Salt Lake City, Houston, and Carson, CA.
The Philadelphia Union Foundation is proud to partner with KaBOOM!, a non-profit organization that hopes to put a playground within walking distance of every child in America. For more information on KaBOOM!, please visit http://kaboom.org/about_kaboom.

Philadelphia Union players have signed up to participate in the Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation, which contributes financial resources to selected non-profit organizations that effectively serve and benefit children with an emphasis on health, education and inner-city services.
All sports divisions consist of Teammates who contribute a pre-determined sum based on selected categories for their in-game performance. The foundation then triples the paid donation of each athlete. $20,000 was raised through this program for the Philadelphia Union Foundation.
