Tom Dougherty

Tom Dougherty was announced as a Philadelphia Union Hometown Hero on March 31, 2012. Tom, a husband to Kathleen for 39 years, a father to four and a grandfather to nine, was born and raised in Philadelphia. Tom has coached soccer for more than 25 years in the region, including time with Lighthouse S.C. where he served as the president and co-founder. He spent time coaching with United Junior Select, F.C. Philadelphia, and Bayern Soccer Club Philadelphia. Tom served as president of the United Juniors Soccer League of Philadelphia for five terms. Tom is a former President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association (EPYSA). Tom was recognized by the Senate of Pennsylvania for “Dedicated Commitment to the Youth of Philadelphia” and was inducted into both the Father Judge High School Soccer Hall of Fame in 2009 and the Southeastern Pennsylvania Soccer Hall of Fame in 2000. He has served on national committees for US Youth Soccer and for The United States Soccer Foundation. The Philadelphia Union thank Tom Dougherty for his years of dedicated service to our community.

Robert Kozlowski

Robert H. Kozlowski was announced as a Philadelphia Union Hometown Hero at the 2012 home opener on March 18. Kozlowski has been a dedicated youth soccer coach for many years, winning a PA state championship and coaching Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer's Olympic Development Program. Kozlowski has also been the Community Recreation Leader for the Philadelphia Department of Recreation for the past 38 years and was the Chairman of the Philadelphia Department of Recreation Outdoor Soccer League for 19 years. He was inducted into the Southeastern Pennsylvania Soccer Hall of Fame in 1995 and is currently their President. In the role, Kozlowski launched the Coats for Chester Campaign, which has collected and distributed over 1,650 coats to needy individuals over the last two years. A professional educator for 41 years, teaching both English and Business courses at Father Judge High School in Philadelphia, Kozlowski has served as a referee for NCAA, high school and youth soccer matches since 1986. The Union would like to thank Mr. Kozlowski for his passion, dedication, leadership and integrity.
