STH Spotlight

Week Four- Lucas Murray

Lucas Murray
Philadelphia, PA
Who sits during matches?

1.) What are you most excited about for the 2013 season?

There's a ton of young talent on this club that hopefully will emerge over the course of the season. It will be interesting to see how the additions of Soumare, Casey and Parke will play out. Off the pitch, I'm excited to get my hands on the new kit - I think fans with ties to soccer history in the area are going to love it.

2.)  What made you want to Re-Doop?

In three seasons I've only missed two matches. Been here since the beginning in both victory and defeat, loud for 90 minutes. Can't stop now.

3.)  Who is your favorite player and why?

There's something to be said for the veterans on this club. It's great that proven winners Brian Carroll, Chris Albright and Conor Casey are around to bring leadership for the younger players. That being said, I'm an old goalie myself, so I'm partial to the keepers.

4.)  What is your favorite memory at PPL Park?

Of all the matches at PPL, the friendlies and US Open Cup contest have provided the biggest memories for me. The USOC match against Rochester was extra special in the River End. It was just die hard fans having a good time together. That's what it's all about, win or lose. The great part is, we're still making memories.

5.)  If you could tell the team/coach one thing, what would you say?

Have fun and enjoy the moment. Don't listen to the haters. It's an afternoon in the sun for men playing a kids game - they shouldn't forget that. Getting paid to play soccer is a lot better than most people have to do every day.
