Philadelphia Union and Major League Soccer have released the MLS Regular Season schedule for the 2014 season, the 19th in League history. Each of the League’s 19 clubs will play 34 matches, with 17 at home and 17 away. The Union start their season on Saturday, March 8 on the road at JELD-WEN Field against Portland Timbers.
This season’s slate features 23 Saturday games for Philadelphia, which is the largest amount since the team’s inception. Eight of the Union’s 34 total games will be shown on national television, including a primetime match-up against 2013 Supporters’ Shield winners New York Red Bulls on Wednesday, July 16 on ESPN2. ESPN2 will also air a home game against Chicago Fire (Oct. 2). NBC Sports will carry Union games against Eastern Conference opponents Sporting Kansas City (Aug. 1), Houston Dynamo (Aug. 15), New York Red Bulls (Sept. 13) and D.C. United (Sept. 27). Additionally, matches against Los Angeles Galaxy (May 25) and San Jose Earthquakes (Aug. 24) will be nationally-broadcast in Spanish on Univision Deportes Network.
The Union’s local television schedule and times will be released at a later date.
All non-national TV games will be broadcast locally and/or via subscription to Direct Kick and MLS Live, the digital streaming package for MLSsoccer.com, mobile devices and tablets.
The Union’s 2014 regular season concludes Sunday, Oct. 26, followed by the MLS Cup Playoffs. Two clubs will reach MLS Cup 2014, and the one with a better regular season record will host the championship game, with details to be announced at a later date.
Full season ticket plans for the 2014 season are on sale now. Nine game partial plans will be available starting Friday, Nov. 29 at 10 a.m. Also available on Friday, Nov. 29 will be a holiday pack featuring two Philadelphia Union scarves and four tickets to the Home Opener against New England Revolution on March 15.
The remainder of single game and group tickets will be available in early 2014.
