Happy Monday – the Daily Doop is back, baby.

We know what you are thinking…

Why call it the Daily Doop, if it’s not going to come out every day.”

Stop being cynical; we’ve had meetings, signings and one of our key contributors out with a stomach bug you wouldn’t give to your worst enemy (or maybe you would just to watch him curl up in a fetal position).

But we are back with some gems to drop on you today. It’s been a while and with absence news grows.

So let’s get into it…

So last week, the club announced we finally obtained the rights to the big man in former Colorado Rapids forward Conor Casey. We say obtained the rights to Casey, 31, because as of right now, the Rapids’ all-time leading goal scorer is enjoying a short vacation in Belize, before a return to the East Coast to meet with new boss John Hackworth and sign on the dotted line.

When asked about Casey, Hackworth left his quote:  “He’s an artist that plays like a linebacker.”

Although he’s lived in Denver since he was five, Casey was born in Dover, New Hampshire so he’s got an East Coast heart. Plus you figure, he’s used to crap weather living in Colorado.

Questions are whether Casey’s injuries will stunt his performance here go uncertain, but with the payday he stands to collect, obviously our doctors and training staff gave a full physical that was capped with a clean bill of health, so fingers crossed he comes here and tears it up.

Moving on…

For people with schedule questions, we hear the league is set to announce the home openers for each of its 19 clubs tomorrow. And while we can’t say who the teams are just yet, it’s a start for those eager to plan out their schedule. As already announced, the league will kick off March 2 this year. As far as when the full slate of matches will be released by MLS, your guess is as good as ours. We do know the holdup generally stems from national television picking which matches it’d like to feature so don’t blame MLS – blame its broadcast partners.

In other news…

Zach Pfeffer returns home tomorrow from a trip to Germany to look for housing in preparation for his yearlong loan stint with TSG Hoffenheim 1899. Pfeffer leaves for the club immediately after New Year’s, so planning begins now, but it also answered the question whether or not he was in class at Upper Dublin High School this when a threat of school violence was posted via the Philly.com Twitter feed shortly after 9 a.m. this morning.

Turns out it was just a student with an umbrella, but we’re sure given the events surrounding the tragedy in Newtown, Conn. everyone is on high alert. Philly.com later tweeted:

Couple of announcements…
