The Philadelphia Union Foundation is a registered 501c3 in the vision of Philadelphia Union, a professional soccer team that participates in Major League Soccer (MLS). Philadelphia was awarded the league’s 16th team on February 28, 2008. A public/private partnership between Philadelphia Union, the State of Pennsylvania, Delaware County and the City of Chester enabled the construction of PPL Park on the banks of the Delaware River at the foot of the Commodore Barry Bridge. The Union are proud to call Chester home.

Foundation Vision

The Philadelphia Union Foundation believes the 21st century presents enormous challenges to youth in our cities. The Foundation will use soccer as a conduit for change by reinforcing the traditional family values of honesty, integrity, effort and accountability. It is our aim to have a positive impact on these children with respect to their character development, academic performance and physical well-being. We want to help develop the young children of today as potential soccer players, BUT more importantly as people with healthy minds and bodies.

Safe Fields - Provide safe fields for children to play soccer and allow them to develop their bodies and minds; a place where the game can be taught and played, enabling local youth to advance and ultimately compete for their club, school and beyond.

Good Health Through Proper Nutrition - Promote a healthy lifestyle to children by offering nutritional information through wellness fairs and diet education, all while anchoring an anti-obesity campaign that will ultimately lead to increased academic and athletic performance.
