The inaugural River Cup in 2011 sparked a rivalry between the Philadelphia Union staff and the Sons of Ben, its loyal legion of supports. The Union brings out their front office and technical staff, while the Sons of Ben counter with their most talented players to win the coveted championship title.
Over 1,000 people at last year’s River Cup, witnessed a close match between the Philadelphia Union front office & technical staff and the Union’s supporter’s group, the Sons of Ben. This day is an opportunity to celebrate the successes of the Philadelphia Union Foundation and to support the future initiatives. All proceeds from the River Cup go directly to Foundation programming. The Foundation continues to focus on building safe fields, teaching life skills, providing nutrition programming and ensuring kids are having fun along the way.
