PPL Park to Host Job & Vendor Fair

Approximately 600 gameday jobs to be filled

CHESTER, Pa. (April 7, 2010)—In anticipation of PPL Park’s grand opening in June, a job and vendor fair will be held on April 17, 2010 from 7:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. at Turbine Hall in the Wharf at Rivertown in Chester, Pa.

The event, presented by Delaware County Council and held in conjunction with the City of Chester, will look to fill about approximately 600 game day staff positions for every aspect of the stadium operation from ticket takers to food service workers.

The Union is set to kick off the PPL Park portion of their schedule on June 27 when the club hosts Seattle Sounders FC at 5:00 p.m.

“When you talk about economic development in the City of Chester, it’s hard to think of a better catalyst than job creation,” said Philadelphia Union CEO & Operating Partner Nick Sakiewicz. “These are jobs and opportunities that simply didn’t exist before, many of which will be awarded to Chester and minority residents and businesses. We couldn’t be more excited to see our collective vision coming to life, and the PPL Park Job & Vendor Fair is a perfect example of the benefits this community will see for years to come.”

“When County Council decided to support bringing professional soccer to Chester, one of our main goals was economic revitalization and jobs for our residents,” said Delaware County Councilman Mario Civera Jr. “The announcement of this Job Fair demonstrates that this stadium will benefit our county in many ways.”

Attendees are encouraged to complete a job application to bring to the fair along with a resume. Each will be given a brief time with interviewers.

Additionally, PPL Park is looking for small, local businesses that share a passion for world class foodservice. Vendors will have the opportunity to showcase their potential and learn how they could potentially be a part of the excitement at the new stadium. Reservations are required for vendor presentations. Interested vendors should emailvendors@philadelphiaunion.com to schedule a presentation at 9am, 11am or 2pm. For vendor-specific information, click here.
