U-17s Win First-Ever Match 1-0 vs Dallas
Philadelphia's new academy program got the better of more established FC Dallas in what amounted to a placement game Monday to finish third in Group B. Philadelphia opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when Jimmy McLaughlin dribbled into the penalty area and cut the ball back to Darius Madison, who finished to give the Union the lead.
Philadelphia had another good chance shortly before halftime when Madison crossed to Melvin Snoh, whose header just went wide. The best Dallas chance to tie the game came in the 65th minute, when Samuel Coleman controlled a long ball down the wing and got his shot past the goalkeeper but pulled it just wide. The Union held on for its first ever win at the U-17 level.
