Philadelphia are riding a tough two-game losing streak; they were beaten by both the Columbus Crew and FC Dallas in less than a week. When Real Salt Lake and the Union met earlier in the season, RSL bagged a convincing 3-0 win at home. With the defending champs playing so well at the moment, we could see more of the same.
The Union have begun to show signs of their expansion status in their last five matches, having only managed one win and a handful of disappointing losses. Exposed by the Crew’s Steven Lenhart and Dallas’ Jeff Cunningham, there are obvious defensive issues that need to be addressed soon.
Real Salt Lake
Real Salt Lake have only lost twice since April, having put together a successful season in their quest to win back-to-back MLS Cups. Led by Alvaro Saborio’s eight goals, the club are as complete a team as you will find throughout the league.
Heroes & Villains
Eduardo Coudet vs. Javier Morales -- Coudet has done quite a bit to slow the production of opposing team’s midfield players so far for the Union, and he’ll be up against one of the best in Morales on Wednesday. If the Argentine midfielder can hold Morales off, the Union may be in with a chance.
Stat That Makes You Go “Hmm...”
Real Salt Lake lead the league in scoring, netting an impressive 33 goals. That is only one more than the Union have allowed this season (32).
