Fred to Miss KC Match with Groin Strain

Midfielder was listed as questionable heading into match

Midfielder Fred will miss Saturday's contest against the Kansas City Wizards with a right groin strain after being listed as questionable heading into the match. The absence will be the second in as many league matches for the Brazilian, who missed the Union's 2-1 win over New England on August 28 for personal reasons. Fred did play in the first half against Chivas Guadalajara on Wednesday.

After missing the club's first-ever match against Seattle on March 25 due to a suspension that carried over from the 2009 season, Fred had played in and started 19 consecutive matches for Manager Peter Nowak's side. The dynamic midfielder has registered two goals and an assist in 1,583 minutes of action.

Fellow starting midfielder Eduardo Coudet will almost miss the Eastern Conference showdown with a right calf strain. Philadelphia's starting midfield against the Wizards consists of Andrew Jacobson, Stefani Miglioranzi, Amobi Okugo and Justin Mapp.
