Andre Blake was selected No. 1 in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft by Philadelphia Union. The pick was acquired from D.C. United in draft-day trade (Jan 2014). With the selection, Blake became the first goalkeeper ever to be taken with the top pick in the history of MLS' college draft. Blake left Connecticut a year early after signing a Generation adidas contract with MLS.
2015: Blake made his season debut against the Montreal Impact on Aug. 22 and maintained a clean sheet.
2014: Appeared in one match, making first career start at Houston on Aug. 15. In the game against the Dynamo, Blake made seven saves. He also led the Union to a pair of early-round U.S. Open Cup victories.
2013 (UConn): Registered 10 shutouts (0.75 GAA and 10-3-8 record) to win the American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Year award. Blake lead the Huskies to two PK shootout victories in 2013 NCAA tournament. Blake was also a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy.
2012 (UConn): Started all 22 matches (17-4-1, 12 shutouts, 0.54 GAA). Named Big East Goalkeeper of the Year for the second straight season as well as All Big East first team selection, NSCAA First Team All-American, Soccer America MVP First Team and College Soccer News Third Team All-American.
2011 (UConn): Started all 25 matches as a freshman (19-3-3, 15 shutouts, 0.39 GAA), including nine straight shutouts. His 15 shutouts tied a UConn record. Blake was named Big East Goalkeeper of the Year as well as Big East First Team selection, NSCAA/Continental Tire Third Team All-American, College Soccer News Second Team All-American and Soccer America All-Freshman First Team.
INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE: As of Nov. 5, 2014, Blake has made five appearances with the Jamaican National Team, last appearing in a 3-1 friendly loss to Canada on Sept. 9, 2014…He earned his first international cap on March 2, 2014 in a 2-0 shutout victory over Barbados.
