Ryan Richter signed with the Union on March 1, 2011 after the club selected the La Salle University product fifth overall in the 2011 MLS Supplemental Draft. He didn't see action in 2011 league play, but featured in international friendlies against Everton and Real Madrid, as well as in Reserve League matches.

2011: Selected fifth overall in the 2011 MLS Supplemental Draft… Signed on March 1 after a trial with the club…Although he didn’t see any first team action, Richter was featured in each of Philadelphia’s ten Reserve League matches… Made his unofficial Philadelphia Union debut on July 21 during a friendly against Everton FC… In June, played one game with USL Pro Affiliate Harrisburg City Islanders… Scored a goal against Harrisburg during a friendly on August 24.

2010: Named Offensive Player of the Year and Student-Athlete of the Year by the Atlantic 10 Conference after scoring a league-best 14 goals in 2010.... Finished career with 28 goals (5th all-time at La Salle) and 13 assists (10th all-time) for 69 points (5th all-time).... Was also named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team.

2009: Soccer Six Player of the Year... NSCAA All-Region Third Team... Philly Soccer News Men's College Best XI... CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second Team...
