The Philadelphia Union is set to support a number of charitable organizations during its matches at PPL Park this month, using its profile within Major League Soccer and the fun of game day to raise awareness of a wide range of good causes.
As well as dedicated awareness nights for both pediatric and ovarian cancer across its two home MLS games in September, the Union will also hold its third annual Blood Drive, giving supporters the chance to continue saving lives in association with the American Red Cross.
The club will first raise awareness of pediatric cancer when D.C. United travel north to Chester on Thursday September 20th (kick off 8pm), with organizations such as Go4theGoal – which supports children battling cancer – benefitting from ticket purchases.
As well as contributing to good causes, supporters in attendance will also be in at the center of both College Night and Dollar Dog Night, enjoying mouthwatering Dietz and Watson dollar dogs as the region’s colleges show us just who has the best and noisiest fans.
The game is presented by Independence Blue Cross, with the first 5,000 fans through the gates at PPL Park also receiving a specially-designed print.
Just two days later – on the eve of the visit of defending Eastern Conference champions Houston Dynamo – the club will kick off its third annual Blood Drive in association with American Red Cross.
The event has been extended to two Saturdays following magnificent support by Union fans over the last two years, enabling those wishing to save lives by giving blood to do so at PPL Park’s Stadium Club on both Saturday 22nd September and Saturday 29th September (6am – 4pm ET). Each donor will receive a commemorative 2012 scarf and t-shirt as well as a coupon from Dunkin’ Donuts.
Space is limited and donors can find out more information on eligibility and register now by clicking here or calling 1-800-REDCROSS.
Houston’s visit on Sunday September 23rd (kick off 4pm ET) is presented by Crozer-Keystone & Premier Orthopaedics, a partnership which will be promoted by an extra special item – an exclusive Zac MacMath Growth Chart for the first 5,000 children, 15 and under, through the gates on game day.
The match is also officially designated as Ovarian Cancer Awareness Night, with ticket purchases helping to further the hard work of the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation.
