- This season he has started and played every minute of the year. He has a save percentage of 61 percetnt, and his three penalty kick saves tie him for the MLS record for PK saves in a year and one more would see him hold the record.
- MacMath is renowned around the league for his awareness, his ability to read plays and see moves developing are what make him a successful keeper. Although he stands at average height his leaping prowess is well above average, and he has a nose for winning the ball in the air. Where MacMath truly is exceptional is from the penalty spot, his three penalty saves this year are a testament to his ability in between the post. For anyone that has ever been on the receiving end of a penalty you understand the challenge that comes with the task, everytime MacMath’s number has been called he has responded.
Star Moment this Year: It’s hard to not be repetitive when it comes to what Zac should be remembered for through this part of the season. His three penalty saves were spectacular but if you had to pick a save above the rest it would be the one against Seattle on May 3. A stadium of 50,000 raucous fans with all eyes on you is a daunting thought, but this was the situation MacMath found himself in late in the first half. He had to overcome a deafening atmosphere and made a marvelous diving save to his left that saw the ball hit his fingertips and then the left post. His emotion afterwards was well justified and the save was one of the best this MLS season.
