Chester, Pa. (February 22, 2012) – Philadelphia Union have waived midfielder Nizar Khalfan, the club announced today. The Union claimed Khalfan in the MLS Waiver Draft on November 23, 2011 after Vancouver Whitecaps FC released him earlier in the day. The move frees up one international spot on the club’s roster, leaving Philadelphia with seven international players and nine spots.

Chester, Pa. (February 22, 2012) – Philadelphia Union have signed defender Sheanon Williams to a new contract, the club announced today. The 21-year old, originally signed on August 31, 2010, from the Harrisburg City Islanders, has emerged as one of the top right backs in Major League Soccer. Per club and League policy, terms of the deal will not be disclosed.

WAYNE, Pa. – Considering Philadelphia Union midfielder Brian Carroll has made the playoffs all nine years he’s been in MLS and is judged by some to be one of the league’s most underrated players, some fans might joke they’d want a team full of Carroll clones.

Well, they have at least one.

(February 18, 2012) - A late stoppage time goal by Orlando City’s Max Griffin erased a 1-0 Philadelphia Union lead, as the Union played Orlando to a 1-1 draw on Saturday night at the Citrus Bowl. Defender Danny Califf headed in a free kick off a cross from Gabriel Gomez in the 27^th minute to open the scoring.

Danny Mwanga was an ocean away when he heard Sébastien Le Toux, his partner in crime on the Philadelphia Union front line over the past two seasons, had been traded to Vancouver.

CHICAGO (February 16, 2012) – Freddy Adu, Jack McInerney and Amobi Okugo will again join the U-23 U.S. Men’s National Team as they train for CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying, U.S. Soccer announced today.  The 10-day camp convenes February 19th and culminates with a match against Mexico’s U-23 National Team on Wednesday, February 29 at FC Dallas Stadium.
