About the Philadelphia Union esports Open presented by Independence Blue Cross and powered by N3rd Street Gamers

The Philadelphia Union esports Open Tournament is a video game tournament where Players will play against each other using EA Sports FIFA 18 electronic football game ("FIFA 18"). At the conclusion of these events, a Grand Prize Winner will be crowned and will earn rights to represent the Philadelphia Union and a trip to eMLS Cup at PAX Boston in April to compete for a spot in eWorld Cup in 2018.

About eMLS Cup

Coming in April 2018, eMLS will pit the best FIFA 18 players from the U.S. and Canada, representing MLS Clubs, against each other to determine who will represent MLS in the EA SPORTS FIFA 18 Global Series Playoffs on the road to eWorld Cup in 2018. 


The overall winner of the Final Event will receive the opportunity to represent the Philadelphia Union and a trip to compete in eMLS Cup at PAX in Boston April 5-8th. Two (2) competitors from eMLS Cup will be selected to progress to EA SPORTS FIFA 18 Global Series Playoffs on the road to eWorld Cup. The player may be asked to represent the Union during media events, regular season activations, ad hoc tournaments and other appearances as needed by the club or MLS.

In addition, the Grand Prize representative will win:
● A weekend trip for two (2) at Union Pre-Season in Clearwater, FL in 2019
● 2018 Union first team personalized kit
● Tickets to see the Union play at home in 2018
● Union swag pack
● Free gameplay days at N3rd Street Gamers in Northern Liberties, Philadelphia

Union esports Open Tournament Rules and Guidelines:

1. All games will be played in-person at designated locations.
2. Players may register for one (1) Regional event only.
3. All games will be played on PlayStation 4 consoles.
4. Players must bring their own controllers. Converters are permitted.
5. Players must be 16 or older by the date of the event they register for.
6. Players under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
7. Players must live in the Greater Philadelphia area.
8. Players must register on the Philadelphia Union website.
9. Players must be able to check-in at least 20 minutes prior to the event start time.
10. Once registered and confirmed, players agree to participate the entire duration of the tournament event(s).
11. By registering for a Regional event, players accept all terms and conditions as outlined.

Anyone can participate the Union esports Open Tournament, as long as the conditions above are met. Only one application will be accepted per Player. By registering for this tournament, you give the Philadelphia Union permission to use your personal and digital images, real name and in-game/Playstation name. You also agree to participate in the Tournament Final Event, eMLS Cup, and EA FIFA 18 Global Series (if selected) if you progress past each round, respectively.

Players will need to provide the following information when registering:
■ First and Last Name
■ Email Address
■ Date of Birth
■ Location of Residence including Zip
■ Playstation or Xbox Gamertags - if you do not have one, you will be asked to create one

Limited spots are available. Late registrants will be placed on a waitlist and are encouraged to attend the events. If a competitor does not show for the competition, members from the waitlist will be pulled to fill his/her place on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Tournament Format and Locations

■ The two Regional Events will be capped at 64 players competing in a group stage format with single elimination Quarters, Semis, and Finals
■ Game Mode: TBD
■ Difficulty: World Class
■ Match Conditions: Clear and Sunny
■ Half Length: 6 minutes

Regional Rounds will occur first. Players should sign up for only one (1) Regional event. The top 16 competitors from each Regional will move on to play in the Final Event at Talen Energy Stadium (32 total competitors). A competitors’ performance in his/her selected Regional event will determine progression and seeding into the Final Event.
