Union named TheStadiumBusiness Awards finalist

Chester, Pa. (April 4, 2012) – Philadelphia Union and the club's innovative Season Ticket Loyalty Program have been selected as a finalist for a Sponsorship, Sales and Marketing award at the 2012 TheStadiumBusiness Awards, the club, in association with KPMG, announced today.

The Union’s Season Ticket Loyalty Program was launched in 2011, rewarding fans for activities such as arriving early to matches at PPL Park, watching Union matches on television and attending matches in which the club wins. The one-of-a-kind program is nominated alongside organizations such as Manchester United, Brighton & Hove Albion FC, the Kalmar Football Club in Sweden and the Major League Soccer National Sales Center.

Now in their third year, TheStadiumBusiness Awards are the only awards to recognize a whole spectrum of achievements from across the global stadium industry. The awards will acknowledge the venue and event of the year, as well as individuals from behind the scenes and successful local community projects.

The winners will be announced at the Gala Awards Evening, held during TheStadiumBusiness Summit at the Museo dell’Automobile in Turin, Italy on May 15, 2012. Thousands of nominations were whittled down to create the shortlist, which will be judged by an independent panel of industry figures, including:

  • David Manica, President, MANICA Architecture, USA
  • Pat Coyle, President, Coyle Media Inc, USA
  • Michael Bolingbroke, COO, Manchester United FC
  • Thierry Favre, Head of National Associations Development, UEFA
  • Ian Nuttall (Chair), Founder, TheStadiumBusiness, Italy
