Preview | Union face Chicago once again

A busy August awaits Philadelphia Union as they kick off a seven match stretch in 28 days on Sunday evening with a home contest against Chicago Fire FC. Kick off from Subaru Park is slated for 6 p.m. ET with limited tickets still available! Fans can catch the action on TUDN, Unimas as well as on Twitter. Union play-by-play announcer JP Dellacamera and color analyst Danny Higganbotham will call the match exclusively on FOX The Gambler, with fans able to listen for free by clicking here.

The Union come into the match after a draw on the road against a desperate Inter Miami CF squad that put up one of their best defensive performances of the season. The Boys in Blue rallied back though with homegrown Quinn Sullivan picking up her first MLS assist with a near post cross that Kacper Przybylko tapped in for the equalizer in the 85th minute.

Sunday’s contest sees the Union looking to cap off their 2021 MLS play against the Fire unbeaten after a 2-0 win in May and a gritty 3-3 draw. Cory Burke continued his strong form against the Fire, notching goals in both matches to push his total to six in five contests.

The Union as a team have had great success against the Fire at Subaru Park too, claiming all three points in the last five home matches against the Fire while netting 14 goals.

Chicago comes to Subaru Park after dropping 2-1 match at home to Toronto FC. The Canadian side struck first with a second minute goal from Yeferson Soteldo while Nick DeLeon netted the winner in the 76th minute. A minute later, Alvaro Medran got the match to its final score that dropped Raphael Wicky’s side to 13th place in the Eastern Conference. Chicago has yet to claim a point away from Soldier Field in 2021 and are winless in their last 16 matches on the road picking up just five draws.
