Ahead of the 2015 Women´s World Cup in Canada, U.S. Women’s National Team players Morgan Brian and Julie Johnston will visit the Union Training Center located adjacent to PPL Park on Thursday, May 21, 2015 to host a soccer clinic and Q&A session with young fans. The event starts at 6 p.m. and lasts until 8 p.m. with the Q&A session scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
The visit comes in part of the “#SheBelieves in her Community” campaign, a weeklong celebration from May 19-24 in which the players from the Women´s National Team give back to young fans and share the message that they can accomplish their goals and dreams.
Brian and Johnston will visit the Union Training Center for two hours to host a soccer clinic and answer questions. Players from the Union´s summer select program and Chester City United will have the chance to learn from two of the best female soccer players in the United States. Defender Julie Johnston captained the 2012 U-20 Women’s World Cup championship team and currently plays for the Chicago Red Stars. At Santa Clara University, Johnston was a three-time MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist and received First Team All-American honors twice.
Midfielder Morgan Brian will also visit PPL Park. Brian attended the University of Virginia where she received the MAC Hermann Trophy and NSCAA First Team All-American honors for two consecutive years. After playing for the U-17 and U-20 Women´s national team, Brian joined the senior team in 2013. At the league level, Brian currently plays for the Houston Dash. While at the University of Virginia, Brian met boyfriend and current Philadelphia Union midfielder Eric Bird.
The 2015 FIFA Women´s World Cup will take place in Canada from June 6, 2015 to July 5, 2015. The action starts for the U.S on June 8, 2015 when they face Australia at Winnipeg Stadium in Winnipeg, Canada.
