With a 3-0 victory over Brazil on Sunday night, the U.S. U-17 MNT became the proud champions of the 2016 NIKE International Friendlies tournament.
Ayo Akinola, Josh Sargent, and Timothy Weah got on the scoresheet for the U.S., with goalkeeper Justin Garces making some pretty spectacular saves throughout the match.
The U.S. went undefeated, picking up additional wins against Portugal and Turkey - all while conceding only two goals throughout the entire tournament.
Union Academy product Rayshaun McGann saw some game minutes off the bench against Brazil, coming in to relieve James Sands. McGann was featured on the U-17 squad throughout the tournament, and added to the score line in U.S.’s 7-1 victory over Portugal last Wednesday night.
After the big win on Sunday night, the U-17s finish the year with an overall record of 19-4-6 in 29 matches.
