Homegrown midfielder Derrick Jones made quite an impression on the Union last season. Now with a year under his belt, he's ready to make an even bigger impact during the club's 2018 campaign.
With many other goals in mind this season, his main objectives are to win more road games and make it to the postseason. But one thing that stood out to Jones was getting back together with the team.
“It feels really good to come back together with the guys and start training, it keeps getting better,” Jones said. “We’re starting to get to know each other more and play together so I think it will be a very good season.”
Jones is coming off his 2017 season where he made 12 appearances, including 8 starts for the first team.
With 2018 in the picture now, Jones is grateful for the help and tips that he receives day after day from his teammates.
“Last year was me coming up so it was very difficult, but the guys helped me through," Jones said. "This year has been a lot easier for me because I got close to the guys and they’re talking to me and helping me each and every day.”
Fans can catch Jonesy and the rest of the Union on March 3, as they host New England Revolution at the home opener, presented by Oliver Heating and Cooling. Tickets for the match can be found here.
