Meet This Week's Hometown Hero: Maryellen Moore

Staff Sargent Maryellen Moore joined the US Army in 1997 and entered into the Army National Guard in 2000 and was deployed twice — first in Germany for 8 month’s to guard one of the Army bases after 9/11 for Operation Enduring Freedom. She was then deployed to Iraq for a year for Operation Iraqi Freedom.

For her services, she has been awarded such accomplishments as the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, United States Navy Unit Commendation, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Star, Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M Device.
