When he arrived, nobody knew what to expect.
Everybody knew he could shoot, that he had good instincts. But all the injuries…
Kacper Przybylko didn’t dress in 2018, but he showed up each day at training and made sure everybody knew what he was capable of producing.
In 2019, he began with Bethlehem Steel.
He scored.
The Union needed a boost up front. Jim Curtin pointed at No. 23.
He scored.
A goal down on the road in Vancouver: He scored.
Cincy? Goal
New England? Goal.
He became relentless; he became a force that MLS could not reckon with or control. As Carlos Vela and Zlatan Ibrahimovic chased a record, Przybylko paced the next group of strikers atop the MLS scoring charts. He drew a red card against DC United, scored the gamewinner against Atlanta, and stunned LAFC.
The Union were never out of a fight with Przybylko on the pitch because they had a player up front that always knew he had been in a bigger fight in the past. A fight to get back on the field after injuries threatened his dreams; a fight for his own future.
Kacper Przybylko is a finalist for MLS Comeback Player of the Year because he never gives up on a fight.
That’s the Philly ethos, and that’s why Przybylko has been embraced by this town.
So let’s back our big striker to be the MLS Comeback Player of the Year in 2019.
