Matej Oravec is Philadelphia Union's newest midfield option. Here are a few facts about the young Slovakian.
- Oravec is just 21 years old when he arrives in the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia Union will be his first club outside of his home country of Slovakia.
- While he is young, he has been playing professional football since he was 18 years old, making his pro debut with FC Spartak Trnava on July 17, 2016.
- The midfielder brings even more youth international experience to the Boys in Blue, having featured with the Slovakian U-18, U-19, U-20 national teams. Currently Oravec is a member of the U-21 squad with his most recent call-up coming against Azerbaijan for the 2021 UEFA European U-21 Championship qualifiers.
- Not only is he one of top youth talents in his home country, in 2018 he was nominated for the Golden Boy Award! That award is presented to the best U21 player in Europe.
- Last season as a member of FK DAC 1904 Dunajska Streda, he made 17 appearances, in addition to starting two games each in the Europa League Qualifiers and the Slovnaft Cup.
