Selmir Miscic scores Union II’s first goal of 2020; Three more players make their USL Championship debuts


CHESTER, Pa. (July 22, 2020) – The Philadelphia Union II fell to Red Bulls II, Wednesday night, 5-1. Selmir Miscic scored an equalizer in the 46th minute, heading home a cross from Yomi Scintu. Red Bulls took control of the match later in the second half, scoring three goals in quick succession and adding a fourth in the 75th minute. Union II returns to action Saturday, July 25 for a road match against Hartford Athletic (7:00 p.m. ET /ESPN+).

  • Match day three saw three more debuts for Union II. Goalkeeper Mitchell Budler, defender Brandan Craig and midfielder Paxten Aaronson all got their first taste of USL Championship action, with Budler earning the start in goal. Newly signed midfielder Jack McGlynn earned his first ever start for Union II, playing the full 90 minutes.
  • Union II mainstay Ben Ofeimu earned the captain armband and the start tonight. The 19-year old centerback made his 42nd appearance for Union II completing 20 passes, making three tackles and nearly scoring off in corner kick in the sixth minute. His 42 appearances are by far the most by any active Union II player, with Zach Zandi’s 32 good for second.
  • Selmir Misic scored his first goal of the season and his second ever in just his seventh appearance for Union II. Yomi Scintu provided the assist on the goal, his second ever for Union II, to go along with his seven career goals.
