Philadelphia Union Unveil 2020 Kick Childhood Cancer Initiatives

Ahead of Saturday night's match against the New England Revolution, the Philadelphia Union is proud to announce its list of Kick Childhood Cancer buddies who have been paired with a Union player.

Each Union athlete has been matched with a child from Kisses for Kyle, a foundation that offers a variety of services to families fighting childhood cancer in the Delaware Valley, for a number of activations as they aim to raise awareness about pediatric cancer. Twenty-five kids will be paired with a Union player as their buddy and receive a specialized Union care package.

A special warm up top will be worn by the players during the Union’s Pediatric Cancer Awareness match presented by Subaru of America, Inc., on September 12 at 7:30 p.m. ET at Subaru Park. The back of each jersey will feature a line that says “I play for __” with a blank space for players to personally write in their KCC buddy’s name.

The club will also include a cardboard cutout of each of the 25 kids and place them in the seats surrounding the Union bench so the players and their buddies can safely enjoy the game together. Following the match, the players will sign their warm up tops that will then be sent to each child.

In conjunction with MLS Works, 100 kids from Kisses for Kyle received an MLS Continental Care Package and the 25 buddies received a special Union package. The club will also host video conference meet and greets to give the kids and players an opportunity to meet and get to know one another in a personal setting.
