The Union have teamed up with Troy Cole, also known as Kickasso, for a first-of-its-kind collaboration for the Union's Pediatric Cancer Awareness Night.
Earlier this season, 15 children who are currently battling cancer or who have conquered the disease were paired up with 15 Union players. The children met the players, eating lunch with them and watching them practice. Then, together, each child and pro designed a pair of cleats together.
This is where Kickasso comes in. He is bringing those cleats to life.
Kickasso has been working hard to recreate each boot as drawn on the sheet of paper. Each pair of cleats will then be revealed at a special event on August 25 at Talen Energy Stadium, where Kickasso, the Union and the 15 kids will be present. This event will be the first time either child or athlete sees the cleat, as well as marking the first ever collaboration between Kickasso and a MLS club.
The Union will wear the specially designed cleats for warm-ups on the Union's Pediatric Cancer Awareness Night, when the team will face-off against Chicago Fire. Following the match, each kid and player will autograph a boot and then trade cleats to take home with them.
