Bethlehem Steel FC Concludes August with Trip to Orlando City B

Bethlehem Steel FC will conclude both its road trip and the month of August on Thursday, August 31, when the club visits fellow MLS-affiliate Orlando City B. The match will mark Steel FC’s first visit to the new Orlando City Stadium. Kickoff from Florida is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and fans can watch the match both YouTube and on the club’s website.

Steel FC enters the final August contest seeking to stay above the playoff line in the Eastern Conference, as the squad sits in eighth position. Despite a three-match losing streak. Steel FC can jump into a safer position with a win in Orlando, with Steel FC sitting just two points behind sixth placed Orlando City B.

Steel FC will be looking to bounce back from its latest setback at in-state rival Pittsburgh, falling 3-2. AFter overcoming an early two goal deficit with a brace from Cory Burke, the Riverhounds delivered the dagger in the 75th minute as Kevin Kerr capped off his USL Player of the Week performance with the winning goal.

Thursday’s match will be the fourth meeting between the two sides, with Orlando City B holding a 2-0-1 advantage. After the two clubs battled to a 2-2 draw in the first matchup in Florida, Orlando continued its scoring ways, compiling matching 2-0 wins in the last two affairs. Earlier this season, Steel FC dominated the opening half as the home squad held Orlando without a shot on goal. Unable to score on goalkeeper Earl Edwards Jr., Orlando capitalized on their second-half chances with a pair of goals from Richie Laryea.

Orlando enters Thursday’s contest as the hottest club in the East, riding an 11-match unbeaten streak. Despite the recent success and ranking higher on the table, the club has two fewer wins than Steel FC, with 11 of their 25 contests ending in draws.
