Sapong vs. Minnesota

Quick Hits from the Union's 1-1 draw at Minnesota United FC, presented by Xfinity

Lucky No. 13

The Union got on the board early, thanks to the 13th goal of the season by CJ Sapong. Fafa Picault had the ball on the right side of the pitch and sent a cross into the box. Crashing the net, Sapong got his foot on the cross and roofed the shot, giving the Union the early 1-0 lead. Sapong's goal moves him within one to tying the Union's single season goal record, and continues to extend his career high in goals. It was also his third road goal of the season. As for Picault, his assist was the second of the season.

In the 68th minute, Minnesota United FC sent a cross into the box, where Oguchi Onyewu accidently got a hand on the ball. The referee awarded Minnesota a penalty, and gave Onyewu his second yellow card for dissent. However, the official went to video review, and overturned the call, as Minnesota's Michael Boxall pushed Onyewu before his hand made contact with the ball. It was the second time this season the Union were involved in video review, and both times the call went the Union's way.
