Just like it always is when the Union play Red Bulls, the single player the team needs to focus on is Sacha Kljestan. Kljestan is second in MLS with 14 assists on the season, and has chipped in two goals to tag along with all his helpers. Red Bulls' 3-1-2-1-3 formation is certainly interesting, and it allows for Kljestan to be the focal point transitioning from midfield into the attacking third. For the Union to have success, they will have to keep the ball away from Kljestan as much as possible. Playing a physical game and putting pressure on Kljestan could force him to make mistakes, and although they won't come often, the key will then be to capitalizing on those mistakes.
