The Union's 2017 Goal of the Year voting is completed, but before the winner is announced, here are a few of the quality goals that missed the cut.
Ilsinho's Volley vs. New England Revolution
One of the Union's statement wins was sealed when Ilsinho made a great play to volley in a goal against New England on July 2. With the Union already up 1-0, Ilsinho gave the Union some insurance when he caught a pass off the bounce and launched a shot into the back of the net.
Alejandro Bedoya's Bicycle Kick
Alejandro Bedoya scored his second goal of the season when he gave the Union a 2-0 lead against Atlanta United FC in the 23rd minute. His bicycle kick goal came off a header from Jack Elliott, who registered his first career MLS assist on the play.
CJ Sapong's Record Breaker
Heading into the Union's final match, CJ Sapong was one goal away from breaking the team's single-season goal record. In the 26th minute of the match, Sapong caught a cross from Fafa Picault and finished his chance, breaking Sebastien Le Toux's record and cementing his name in the record books.
