Union vs. Montreal Impact Starting XI and Lineup Notes - Suncoast Invitational

Philadelphia Union will kick off its second Suncoast Invitational match at 7 p.m. against Eastern Conference foe Montreal Impact at Joe DiMaggio Sports Complex in Clearwater, Florida.

Starting XI: John McCarthy; Keegan Rosenberry, Jack Elliott, Auston Trusty, Fabinho; Haris Medunjanin, Alejandro Bedoya; Fafa Picault, Anthony Fontana, David Accam; CJ Sapong

Lineup Notes:

John McCarthy 
John McCarthy will be starting in net for Philadelphia tonight. This will be John’s second consecutive start in the 2018 Suncoast Invitational.

Keegan Rosenberry
Keegan Rosenberry will get the start at right back for the Union in their match vs. Montreal Impact tonight. Rosenberry is a former No. 3 overall pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft where he went on to play every minute of the 2016 campaign for Philadelphia.

Jack Elliott
Jack Elliott will man one of the center back positions tonight. Elliott is coming off a 2017 campaign where he was a Rookie of the Year Finalist.

Auston Trusty
Auston Trusty starts alongside Elliott at the center back spot. Trusty made 22 starts at center back in 2017 with the club’s USL affiliate Bethlehem Steel FC.

Fabinho
Fabinho will position the left back spot for Philadelphia tonight. Fabinho is currently the longest tenured international player for the Union. Fabinho made his first appearance for Philadelphia on July 12, 2013 against Chivas USA.

Haris Medunjanin
Haris Medunjanin starts in midfield tonight. Medunjanin recorded 137 corner kicks for Philadelphia last season which set a new franchise record.

Alejandro Bedoya
Alejandro Bedoya will start alongside Medunjanin in the midfield and will wear the Captain’s Armband. When Bedoya recorded a goal or an assist, the Union had a record of 4-1-1 in 2017.

Fafa Picault
Fafa Picault will play out wide on the right side of the pitch. This will be Picault’s first start of the 2018 Suncoast Invitational.

Anthony Fontana
Anthony Fontana will start for the Union at the No. 10 spot. Fontana is currently the youngest player on the First Team roster.

David Accam
David Accam will man the left side of the attacking pitch. Accam has increased his total minutes and assist total in each year he’s played in MLS.

CJ Sapong
CJ Sapong will get the nod up top for the Union against Montreal tonight in Clearwater, Florida. Sapong broke a franchise record and set a new career high in fouls suffered with 87 in 2017.
