Philadelphia, FC Dallas Special Olympics Unified teams compete in special match following first-team game

The Philadelphia Union and FC Dallas Special Olympics Unified Team shared a special day Saturday, as the two teams competed in a match on the pitch at Talen Energy Stadium.

Leading up to the match, the Union Unified Team held a media day. The members of the team sat in on a press conference with Head Coach Jim Curtin, before signing their contracts with the Union. The players then received their Union kits and headshots.

The day of the match, the Union and FC Dallas Unified Teams went on a sightseeing tour around Philadelphia. The teams explored the Eastern State Penitentiary, climbed the Philadelphia Art Museum steps and explored the historic city on a double decker bus.

The events continued during the Union's 3-1 win against FC Dallas, where the Unified Teams were recognized before the match. Following the team's win, the Unified Teams took to the pitch to face off against each other. A back and forth game saw both teams score goals, play defense, and most importantly, have fun.

Following the match, all the athletes received medals from Special Olympics. It was a special night for each of the Unified Teams and a memory that will last a lifetime.
