The Union have announced Bonedaddys Tattoo as the team's Chief Tattoo Officers, naming the shop to one of sports most revolutionary positions.
"To have made it this far and won is awesome," said Jay Cunliffe, owner of Bonedaddys Tattoo. "To be named Chief Tattoo Officer by the Union is a huge honor. Excited to get it started."
Bonedaddys Tattoo was selected as the Union's Chief Tattoo Officer after months of working with tattoo shops and artists all around the Delaware County. What started with more than 135 applications finally comes to a close with Bonedaddys Tattoo standing out above the rest.
"We couldn’t be happier to announce Bonedaddys Tattoo as professional sports’ first-ever Chief Tattoo Officer,” said Doug Vosik, Vice President of Marketing for the Union. “We whittled the field of 150 down to 13, then to five, and after consultation with our players and site visits with each of the final five, Bonedaddys Tattoo stood out. We’re proud to hire them as our CTO and look forward to a fruitful partnership.”
Located in Aston, PA, Bonedaddys Tattoo opened shop in 2010, with Cunliffe at the helm. Cunliffe has been tattooing for more than 14 years, and working with his brother, Josh, as the shop manager and employing three other artists, Bonedaddys Tattoo has become one of the go-to shops in the Delaware County area.
In an effort to best serve the Union’s tattoo needs, Bonedaddys Tattoo will have Dan Czar serve as a special guest as the shop becomes the Union’s Chief Tattoo Officer. Czar, who was also one of the five finalists, came together with Bonedaddys in a display of collaboration and love for the Union and tattoos.
Czar has been tattooing for three years out of AC Ink in Atlantic City, but impressed many, including Bonedaddys, with his tattooing skills. Together, Czar and Bonedaddys Tattoo will provide the best art possible for the Union and their fans.
"It feels great, honestly, it feels a little surreal," Czar said. "When I first saw it, it was the coolest position I had ever seen. It feels really cool to have wanted it so badly and then to be here with Bonedaddys and being able to work with him and all the players."
Bonedaddys Tattoo and the Union will hold the inaugural tattooing event August 21, where Vosik, Union defender Richie Marquez, and Sons of Ben founding member Corey Furlan will get tattoos from Bonedaddys simultaneously to mark the inauguration of the partnership.
"The shop is amazing, it's really cool," Marquez said. "It's an exciting moment. Their portfolios were phenomenal. When the best stand out, you can tell the difference, and that was the case. I'm excited to see what kind of tattoos everyone else is going to get. "
