After helping Bethlehem Steel FC to its first USL Cup Playoff appearance, midfielder Santi Moar has been named a finalist for the United Soccer League's Rookie of the Year, the league announced Thursday.
Moar was named one of the three finalists for the league's top rookie for the 2017 USL Awards that voted on by team management and a league-wide media panel that included representation from every USL market. The USL will announce the winners beginning on Nov. 20, with the Rookie of the Year announcement coming on Tuesday, Nov. 21.
A fourth-round selection in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft, Moar played a major role in Steel FC’s first trip to the playoffs in the club's second year of existence. The Spaniard was second on the team with six assists while also tallying six goals, including the quickest brace in the club's history at Toronto FC II. In addition to his spectacular assists, Moar was responsible for 36 key passes to fuel Steel FC's attack.
Moar is joined by Louisville City FC's Richie Ballard and Reno 1868 FC's Chris Wehan.
