(Chester, PA) – March 10th, 2022 - - The Philadelphia Union Youth are proud to announce the promotion of Thiago Evangelista to the position of Affiliate Director. In this position, Evangelista will be the liaison to our Affiliate Clubs building strong relationships between the Union Youth and our affiliate clubs, players, and coaches.
Youth General Manager, David Pettican, expressed his excitement at the promotion. ”Thiago has proven without doubt to be a valuable member of the youth department and due to the rapid growth of our club affiliation program is the natural choice to be promoted to this position,” Pettican explained. “His professionalism and dedication to coaching and teaching the beautiful game is impeccable. Thiago’s new role is to ensure the affiliate clubs that are part of the Union family are serviced to the highest standard and that he builds a close relationship with both the players, coaches, and board.”
Evangelista is a lifelong student of the game and has studied the history of soccer, various methodologies, kinetics, player development, and team management. With a bachelor’s degree of science in physical education and a concentration in soccer, he brings a wealth of soccer experience and knowledge to this position. “This new role is a great opportunity for me. I look forward to helping our affiliate clubs grow in their knowledge of the game and to continue to foster the Union family relationship,” stated the Brazilian. “I would like to say thank you to David Pettican and Andrew Vanover for always believing in me.”
As an integral member of the Philadelphia Union Youth, the department is assured that Evangelista will excel as Affiliate Director, making this appointment a perfect fit for both the Youth Department and our Affiliate Clubs.
