Andre Blake was selected with No. 1 pick in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft by the Philadelphia Union. With the selection, Blake became the first-ever goalkeeper to be taken with the top pick in the history of MLS SuperDraft. Blake also holds the franchise record for saves in a single match, making 10 against New England on Sept. 26, 2015.
2016 (Union): Blake has both started and played in 20 matches this season, making a total of 60 saves and a 1.55 GAA. He has the third most saves amongst keepers that have played 14 matches. He has been nominated for MLS’ Save of the Week eight times, and currently boasts a 65.2 save percentage on the year. He has been able to keep four clean sheets thus far, the most recent coming at home against DC United. In July, Blake was named to the 2016 MLS All-Star team as one of two Union players to be selected for the All-Star game.
2015 (Union): Blake recorded two shutouts in six MLS games. He broke a franchise record for saves in a game, by making 10 against New England on Sept. 26. He was a two-time MLS Team of the Week selection, on Week's 30 and 34. Blake also started the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final against Sporting Kansas City.
2014 (Union): Appeared in one match, making first career start at Houston on Aug. 15. In the game against the Dynamo, Blake made seven saves. He also led the Union to a pair of early-round U.S. Open Cup victories.
2013 (UConn): Registered 10 shutouts (0.75 GAA and 10-3-8 record) to win the American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Year award. Blake lead the Huskies to two PK shootout victories in 2013 NCAA tournament. Blake was also a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy. He left Connecticut a year early after signing a Generation adidas contract with MLS.
2012 (UConn): Started all 22 matches (17-4-1, 12 shutouts, 0.54 GAA). Named Big East Goalkeeper of the Year for the second straight season as well as All Big East first team selection, NSCAA First Team All-American, Soccer America MVP First Team and College Soccer News Third Team All-American.
2011 (UConn): Started all 25 matches as a freshman (19-3-3, 15 shutouts, 0.39 GAA), including nine straight shutouts. His 15 shutouts tied a UConn record. Blake was named Big East Goalkeeper of the Year as well as Big East First Team selection, NSCAA/Continental Tire Third Team All-American, College Soccer News Second Team All-American and Soccer America All-Freshman First Team.
Blake has made 11 appearances for the Jamaican National Team (as of Jan. 1, 2016) and earned three call-ups in 2015. He made his World Cup Qualifying debut against Nicaragua in September 2015, helping the Reggae Boyz through and into the Fourth Round of 2018 WCQ. He earned his first international cap on March 2, 2014 in a 2-0 shutout victory over Barbados. Blake also backboned the team to the 2014 CONCACAF Caribbean Cup championship where they defeated Trinidad and Tobago in the finals.
