Fábio Alves, known as Fábinho, was signed as a free agent by the Philadelphia Union on June 28, 2013. Fábinho, a left back, brings a steady, veteran presence to the Union’s back line.
Born in Ariquemes, Brazil, Fábinho played for several teams in his native country, as well as one in Uruguay, before moving to the Australian A-League in 2011. While in Australia, he played for Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC, which was his last club before coming to Philadelphia.
2012-13: Appeared in 18 matches for Sydney FC…Was teammates with Italian great Alessandro Del Piero.
2011-12: Played in 23 matches for Melbourne Victory, notching two goals.
2004-2011: Played for various clubs in South America, including Londrina, Coritiba, J. Malucelli, Ponte Preta, Paysandu, Mixto, and Volta Redonda.
