Fábio Alves, known as Fábinho, was signed as a free agent by the Philadelphia Union on June 28, 2013. Fábinho, a left back, brings a steady, veteran presence to the Union’s back line.
2014: Appeared and started in 19 games, logging 1,636 minutes. He notched a pair of assists and seven total shots while mostly playing left back. He made his debut in the season opener at Portland on March 18. During a 3-3 draw against Vancouver on June 7, he picked up an assist. Also picked up an assist during his final appearance of the season against Columbus on Oct. 11.
2013: Played in 14 games starting in 10, logging a total of 980 minutes. In his second match with the Union, Fabinho scored the only goal against Montreal on Oct. 19, 2013. Throughout the season, he recorded two assists, one against D.C. United on Aug. 10, 2013 and one against Chivas USA on July 12, 2013.
2012: Appeared in 18 matches for Sydney FC. He was teammates with Italian great Alessandro Del Piero.
2011: Played in 23 matches for Melbourne Victory, notching two goals.
2004-2011: Played for various clubs in South America, including Londrina, Coritiba, J. Malucelli, Ponte Preta, Paysandu, Mixto, and Volta Redonda.
