Facing off against one of their biggest European rivals, the United States Women's National Team scored early to propel the team to a 2-0 victory over Sweden in the final match of Group F play. With the win the USWNT claimed all nine points in the group and will face off against Spain in the Round of 16.

The win served as revenge for the defending FIFA Women's World Cup Champions who were knocked out of the 2016 Olympics in the quarterfinals. World Cup newcomer Lindsay Horan made the most of the quick start, finishing off a set piece play in the third minute of the match. After a near post kick from Megan Rapinoe, midfielder Sam Mewis flicked a touch to Horan inside the box for the tap in goal.

The U.S. doubled its lead just after halftime with Tobin Heath providing the fireworks with multiple tekkers before blasting a shot that ended up in the back of the net off of Sweden's Jonna Andersson.

Another record fell in the process as the USWNT concluded group play with 18 goals scored, the most group play history, and earning three clean sheets. Not only has the defense not yielded any goals, goalkeeper  Alyssa Naeher has only faced four shots on target.

The United States turns their attention to Spain with the showdown set for Monday, June 24th at 12 p.m. ET.
