Philadelphia Union hosted Cruz Azul for the first match of Phase One for the Leagues Cup on Thursday evening. Cruz Azul opened the scoring early with José Paradela striking in the third minute. The Union outshot Cruz Azul 13-9 but were unable to find the equalizer in the second half, resulting in a 0-1 loss. 

The Union will return to Subaru Park on Sunday, August 9 to host Club Necaxa in their second match of Phase One for the Leagues Cup (7:30 p.m. ET / Apple TV, FS1, Univision).
