Brenden Aaronson, Auston Trusty Receive International Call-Ups

Union Academy products called-up by United States Under-23 National Team for training camp next week

CHESTER, Pa. (June 7, 2019) – In conjunction with U.S. Soccer, Philadelphia Union announced today that Academy products Brenden Aaronson and Auston Trusty have both been called up by the United States Men’s Under-23 National Team. The squad is holding a training camp in Herriman, Utah from June 9-16, and the Union are one of five MLS clubs with multiple players on the roster.

Aaronson was last called-up by the U.S. U-19 squad as part of the inaugural Men’s YNT Summit Camp from January 2-11, 2018, while Trusty received a senior team call-up earlier this year in January. He was on the matchday roster for friendlies vs. Panama (January 27) and vs. Costa Rica (February 2), but did not appear.

The gathering in Utah marks another step in the U-23 MNT’s journey to the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo as the USA aims to qualify for its first Men’s Olympic Football Tournament since 2008. The U.S. will look to secure its Olympic berth early next year as one of the top two teams at the 2019 Concacaf Olympic Qualifying Championship.
