After scoring Wednesday's game winning goal against Chicago Fire FC, Philadelphia Union's Bruno Damiani has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday the league announced on Wednesday afternoon.
With the Union missing Tai Baribo and Mikael Uhre, Damiani rose to the occasion in the Union's first of three road games. The Uruguayan striker was on the front foot from the opening whistle, charging after every touch on the backline to set the tone of Philly's press.
After Chris Donovan drew a handball offense inside box, Damiani didn't hesitate from the penalty spot with a rocket to the keeper's right that left him frozen in place.
After the match, Damiani said the goal was a special one for him with his family having traveled from South America to see him play and see the goal.
The Boys in Blue continue their road trip with a Sunday Night Soccer presented by Continental Tire showdown against the Columbus Crew. Kick off from Ohio is set for 6PM ET with coverage on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
