Union Homegrown Earns Team-Leading Eighth Team of the Matchday Honor as Philadelphia Extends Club-Record Unbeaten and Winning Streaks

Philadelphia Union Homegrown midfielder Cavan Sullivan has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 29, Major League Soccer announced today.

Sullivan earned the honor following his performance in the Union's 2-1 victory over Real Salt Lake at Subaru Park on Saturday night, extending the club's unbeaten streak to 13 matches and winning streak to seven. The Homegrown midfielder recorded an assist, bringing his season total to 20 goal contributions and tying Diego Fagúndez for the most goal contributions by a teenager in a single MLS regular season.

The selection marks Sullivan's team-leading eighth MLS Team of the Matchday honor of the 2026 season. The accolade adds to a remarkable stretch for the 17-year-old, who recently became the youngest goalscorer in U.S. Men's National Team history and was named MLS Player of the Month for September.

A product of the Philadelphia Union Academy, Sullivan has emerged as one of MLS's brightest young stars in 2026, combining elite creativity and attacking production while helping lead Philadelphia's historic run of form. With 20 goal contributions this season, he continues to climb both club and league record books for teenage players.

The Union return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 14, when they travel to face Chicago Fire FC at Soldier Field.
