While making the media rounds on Monday afternoon fresh off leading Philadelphia Union to the 2020 Supporters' Shield, Head Coach Jim Curtin spoke with Fox Sports PHL Gambler and provided an update on goalkeeper Andre Blake.
Blake missed the final two regular season matches for the Union after suffering a fractured right hand against the Chicago Fire on October 30. Joe Bendik started the following road match against the Columbus Crew while homegrown Matt Freese picked up the shut out in the Supporters' Shield clinching finale on Sunday against the New England Revolution.
Blake is the clear favorite for the MLS Goalkeeper of the Year award after leading the league in save percentage at 77.8% in route to eight shutouts and 63 saves in 2020. The Union host the lowest remaining seed from the Eastern Conference Play-In Round on Tuesday, November 24th. Kick off from Subaru Park is set for 8 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN.
