For the first time in 50 years, Haiti is headed to the FIFA World Cup as Danley Jean Jacques's side defeated Nicaragua by a 2-0 side and erupted into celebration.

Entering Tuesday night's CONCACAF Qualifer finale, Haiti was tied with Honduras for the top spot in Group C which netted the automatic ticket to the world's biggest tournament. With the Union midfielder having to watch the match due to yellow card accumulation, Les Grenadiers claimed the top spot in Group C and secured direct qualification for its second ever World Cup appearance. The qualification ends a 51-year drought after the nation last participated at Germany 1974.

Just like he is for Philly, Danley is an important piece of Haiti’s team, tallying six goals and three assists in 26 international appearances. The last time his country faced Nicaragua, one month ago in the qualifiers, Danley contributed a header goal in the 35th minute, helping lift the team to a 3-0 victory.

Haiti and the rest of the qualified teams will learn their draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup next month with the event set to take place on Friday, December 5th at 12PM ET.
