The Philadelphia Union Unified Team took to the pitch, showing off their skills in a match against Atlanta United FC's Unified team at the WSFS Bank Sportsplex on Saturday afternoon.
2026 Special Olympics Unified All-Star Ian Benson provided the game's opening goal as he found the back of the net early in the second half to put a bow on a resounding week which saw him score at MLS All-Star Week. The visitors battled back however, using their depth to score twice to grab the win on the scoreboard.
While the result went in favor of the Five Stripes, the match continue to demonstrate the power of inclusion through Major League Soccer's Unified Sports program, a partnership between MLS, Special Olympics North America, and Coca-Cola that brings together athletes with and without intellectual disabilities to compete on the same team.
