What is HeadFirst Positive Mindset Training?
HeadFirst In Person Education is a Philadelphia Union Foundation program powered by Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). It uses a blend of positive psychology and sports psychology to teach teen soccer players how to overcome challenges and stay focused on achieving their goals. It’s delivered in three sessions, with practice exercises offered between sessions — all at no cost to athletes and their families.

What will players learn?
During the three sessions, players will participate in interactive activities, curated discussions, and coach-led team huddles.
Players who have attended say the training improved their self-esteem, strengthened their connection with their teammates, and helped them develop a stronger mindset.
Program topics include:
- Practicing mindfulness and positive visualization
- Responding to unhelpful thoughts in constructive ways
- Discussing personal strengths and accomplishments
- Developing strategies to bounce back from challenges
- Managing stress effectively
- Making thoughtful and healthy decisions
- Connecting with others in positive ways

What is included?
- This program is free to participants and their families. All costs are covered by Philadelphia Union Foundation.
- Positive mindset exercises will be provided for practice between sessions.
- All three sessions — in person and virtual — are included with registration.
- Food is served at each event.

Register your athlete and/or your team here by June 13th.
